Subject:                      Resolution Amending and Restating the Lake County Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Agreement among Lake County Government, University of Central Florida (UCF) and the City of Leesburg for the benefit of providing technical assistance for small businesses at the Leesburg Business Incubator

 

 


Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of the amended and restated agreement to provide technical services for small businesses located in Lake County at the Leesburg Business Incubator. 

 

Analysis:

The University of Central Florida Small Business Development Center (UCFSBDC) has been providing technical assistance to small businesses since January 2009 at the Leesburg Business Incubator.  However, this agreement will articulate in more details their delivery of services and separate the original agreement that included the UCF Business Incubation Program as providing joint services at the Leesburg Business Incubator.  The following technical assistance will be provided at the business incubator:

 

·       Management and Technical Assistance Services

·       Group Training

·       Individual Counseling

·       Small Business Resource Network (SBRN)

Lake County Government will continue their commitment to fund the SBDC operations at the Leesburg Incubator. 

 

 

Options:

1.  Approve the agreement as written; or

2.  Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate

 

 

Fiscal Impact: 

There is no cost to the City of Leesburg for the UCF Small Business Development Center services located at Leesburg Business Incubator.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN LAKE COUNTY GOVERNMENT, AND THE UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL FLORIDA FOR THE BENEFIT OF PROVIDING SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SERVICES;  AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.  

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

 

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement with Lake County Government and University of Central Florida Small Business Development Center whose address is 315 West Main Street, Tavares, Florida 32278 (Lake County) and 12201 Research Parkway, Suite 501, Orlando, Florida 32826 (UCFSBDC).

 

             THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Leesburg, Florida, at a regular meeting held the __17th___ day of _December________ 2012.
