Subject:                      Resolution authorizing a lease agreement between James Mark of American In Home Care and the City of Leesburg for office space at the Leesburg Business Incubator

 


Staff Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of the lease agreement with American In Home Care (AIHC) to lease space at the Business Incubator for a four year term. 

 

Analysis:

The Business Incubator currently has three vacancies for new and emerging businesses that will provide a service or product to our community.  The proposed lease agreement will allow American In Home Care to locate their operation in the Business Incubator. 

 

American In Home Care will offer caregiver registry for in home elder care services.  AIHC allows seniors to live in the comfort of their own homes and be provided with an in-home caregiver.  The program allows elderly seniors to maintain their independence and quality of life through contact with friends, places, and interests without relying solely on their families.

 

The Leesburg Business Incubator will allow AIHC to provide a new branch office in Lake County with the possibility of providing up to 60 new jobs for the area over the next four (4) years. 

 

Options:

1.         Approve the four-year contract with American In Home Care for lease space at the

Business Incubator; or

2.     Such alternative action as the Commission may deem appropriate.

 

Fiscal Impact: 

The Business Incubator lease agreement with American In Home Care will result in $14,400 and 60 new jobs over the four year lease period.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A LEASE AGREEMENT WITH JAMES MARK OF AMERICAN IN HOME CARE FOR OFFICE SPACE AT THE BUSINESS INCUBATOR; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:

 

            THAT the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement with American In Home Care whose address is 1160 Fern Avenue, Orlando, Florida 32814 for caregiver’s registry services for in home elderly care.

 

             THAT this resolution shall become effective immediately.
