ratifying re-appointment of Earll Bean to the Police Officers’ Pension Trustee

Staff Recommendation:
Staff
recommends the Commission ratify the appointment of the “fifth member” to the
Leesburg Police Officers’ Pension Trustee Board.
Analysis:
Earll Bean’s term expired December 31,
2012, and Section 3 of the Board of Trustees plan
document states once the trustees select the fifth member, his/her name is
presented to the Commission for ratification of the appointment "as a
ministerial act."
The
Trustees have selected Captain Earll Bean as the fifth member to serve on the
Board.
Options:
1. Ratify the appointment of a member to the
Leesburg Police Officers’ Pension Trustee Board; or
2. Such alternative action as the Commission may
deem appropriate

RESOLUTION
OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA, RATIFYING THE
RE-APPOINTMENT OF CAPTAIN EARLL BEAN AS A MEMBER OF THE LEESBURG POLICE
OFFICERS’ PENSION TRUSTEE BOARD FOR A TWO YEAR TERM TO EXPIRE DECEMBER 31,
2014; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA:
THAT the City Commission of the City of
Leesburg, Florida finds there is a vacancy on the Police Officers’ Pension
Trustee Board effective December 31, 2012.
THAT the City Commission hereby ratifies the appointment of Captain
Earll Bean as a regular member of the Police Officers’ Pension Trustee Board to
fill the vacancy, said term expires December 31, 2014.
THAT
this resolution shall become effective immediately.
