Gov 2 Biz Workshop

The Purchasing Division will be providing a FREE 'How to Do Business With Government' workshop on January 29, 2015.  Click here to view and print the workshop flyer.  In order to better plan for the workshop pre-registration is required.  You may register for the workshop by sending an e-mail to purch@leesburgflorida.gov or by calling the Purchasing Division at (352)728-9880.  Following registration further details will be provided.

The focus of this workshop will be to educate businesses on how to successfully do business with government agencies in general and more specifically those agencies within Lake County.  Representatives from the following Lake County agencies will be present.

  • City of Leesburg
  • City of Clermont
  • City of Eustis
  • City of Mount Dora
  • City of Tavares
  • Lake County Board of County Commissioners
  • Lake County School District

Many government agencies receive state and federal grant funds to complete many projects and services.  Responding to bids using grant funds introduces additional requirements.  A representative from Fred Fox Enterprises will be present to explain the bidding requirements for grant funded projects.  This information is sure to give attendees the information they need to successfully bid on grant funded projects.

Florida Surety Bonds will also be present.  Florida Surety Bonds, Inc. is a bonds-only agency located in Maitland, Florida, with additional offices in Daytona Beach and Tampa. The agency will be presenting a seminar about contract bonds. Bonding is important to contractors who seek to do business with the City of Leesburg and other government agencies because performance and payment bonds are required by Florida statutes on all projects over $200,000. The presentation will be provided by knowledgeable bonding agents and will cover the basics of bonding, including an overview of the different contract bonds, the difference between bonds and insurance, a review of the application process, and how sureties calculate bonding limits and rates.
