The Community Services Section conducted over seventy presentations to local churches, civic groups, and community action groups within the Leesburg area for 2010.
The presentations included crime prevention, personal safety, neighborhood watch, drug education, child safety, and school safety.
The section currently has one certified crime prevention practitioner who received his training through the Florida Attorney General's Office. This training has provided the necessary tools for more effective community problem solving and presentations.
The Community Services Section continues to work with the established neighborhood watch groups within our community. By networking with a variety of community groups, the community services sergeant has helped keep the public informed about topics of interest such as current city events, crime trends, home and personal safety, plus information about Internet fraud/scams. The sergeant is also responsible for setting up and maintaining working neighborhood watch groups in our communities.
